The Chapter Technology Transfer Committee (CTTC) has assumed the responsibilities and activities of three ASHRAE Standing Committees – Chapter Programs, TEGA, and Refrigeration. The CTT Committee serves to provide efficient and effective transfer of current and relevant information throughout the HVACR industry to and from the chapters. The CTT Committee reports to Members Council. The CTT Committee will be sponsoring the 2008 CTTC Satellite Broadcast/Webcast titled “Integrated Building Design – Putting the Pieces Together to Unleash the Power of Teamwork”. The Broadcast/Webcast will be held on April 16, 2008. The speakers list for the broadcast should be finalized by the time you read this article. The list of speakers and their topics will be made available on the CTTC website. www.ashrae.org/cttc Chapter members don’t forget to take advantage of the free offer from ASHRAE to promote building energy efficiency. ASHRAE and its partners are making the Advanced Energy Design Guides—including the newest for K-12 School Buildings—available for free download (PDF). The guides offer designers and contractors the tools needed for achieving a 30% energy savings compared to buildings that meet the minimum requirements of Standard 90.1-1999. Congratulations to Mr. Steven Jones from the San Joaquin Chapter for receiving a 2008 ASHRAE Technology Award – Honorable Mention. Steven received his award in the Commercial Buildings – New Category for the Kern Schools Federal Credit Union Administration project in Bakersfield, California. Since we are on the subject, it’s already that time of year to start thinking about getting your Technology Awards application prepared. Information on the ASHRAE Technology Awards and all other ASHRAE awards is available on the CTTC website. www.ashrae.org/cttc The following are deadlines for the 2008 Technology Awards:
Fellow Chapter CTTC Chairs, with the 2008 CRC being just a few months away you might want to work on finding at least two members from your chapter that are willing to commit to attending the CTTC workshop at the CRC in San Diego. The required CRC workshop lasts about four hours and covers everything from Chapter Programs, TEGA, and Refrigeration to all of the types of awards ASHRAE has to offer. It is very important that each of the chapters have the CTTC chair filled with at least one person so that person can provide the chapter with vital information and tools to allow the chapter to be successful. Please don’t forget to e-mail me each month with a short report on the success or lack of success of your chapter programs. The ASHRAE Greening ASHRAE Meetings and Events (GAME) Guide Version 1.0 is now available on the CTTC Web site. This Society wide effort is intended to reduce total environmental impact of doing ASHRAE business, particularly in conducting ASHRAE meetings and expositions. Please contact me at rick@rrcontrols.com if you have any questions, concerns or comments.
